A Foundation for Dementia: Seeing the Other Person’s Perspective (Online Course)

$10.00

Have you ever wondered what it’s like to be a person living with dementia (PLwD)?

If we really took the time to see what it’s like to be in their shoes, to see things from their perspective, we would realize that the same disease that has caused them to become forgetful, agitated, and sometimes inconsiderate of our feelings, is invoking feelings of alarmed distress in them.

Although fifty percent of those living with dementia are unaware of symptom onset, the other fifty percent will react to symptom awareness in one of two distinct ways.

In this course, you will learn:

  • some fundamental truths about how dementia differs from normal brain aging,
  • two different reactions that people living with dementia (PLwD) may potentially have when they realize that they may have dementia,
  • effective ways to communicate both generally and specifically to address those feelings that are distinct to each reaction

Please note: This is an interactive, multimodal course with a combination of text, videos, quizzes, pictures, and graphics, to increase learning and improve your understanding of dementia.
