It addresses common errors or mistakes that we might be making in our efforts to support and communicate that trigger strong and physical reactions. It also emphasizes the possibility of missed cues and indicators of escalating distress, confusion, or efforts to stop or slow actions. We compare common interactions and outcomes to more positive and effective engagements and results. The session features action simulations and case discussions with demonstration of specific supportive techniques and strategies.

Keeping oneself clean and fresh is a complex task and serves several different purposes.  Dementia causes changes in perception, memory, sensations, mobility, and dexterity, as well as perspective, personal values, and relationships that often make this task a particular challenge.  Explore possible alternatives and options for getting clean, and learn about specific interventions to increase the probability of successful and adequate hygiene.
