My name is Mary Arthur and I have been a PAC trainer for 4 years and just received the PAC Consultant certification this year. A lot of nursing staff and management questioned my need for the Consultant certification and said, "You do a great job and why do you need any other certifications through PAC". I pressed the need for a little more due to our clientele at our CCRC (Westminster Canterbury in VA) with a lot of ex-governor's, lawyers, doctors, etc. I saw the need but no one else did but they weren't the ones in the hot seat!!! Today they had an "Ah ha" moment in a meeting with a son who is a lawyer and very concerned about his mother's dementia. As I explained dementia, he cringed at the word "dementia", so I quickly changed that to memory loss or failing brain. He interrupted me numerous times and was very emotional. No one else knew what to say or how to say it but I kept it going. He understood, began nodding, and was then open to the conversation with just a change in a few word choices. At the end of the meeting he expressed his appreciation and was completely a changed man towards dementia. When he left, they all looked at me astonished and I said, "That is the point of the PAC Consultant certification".

I just wanted to let someone know how much the PAC community has helped me and the certifications are well worth the time. THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU to everyone there! I'm smiling ear to ear today!

“The certification process and training were amazing, but what really helped was the mentor program. This part of the program helped to solidify my training. While I still have a long way to go, my mentor helped me to process each aspect of the program.”

Julie Hoffman

PAC Certified Independent Trainer

“I was extremely impressed with the thoroughness of the training. I was committed before beginning, and am more after the certification process, to changing lives of people living with dementia. I would tell someone starting, not to assume this will be easy. It takes commitment and passion to complete this study.”

“I feel well equipped to use my new learned knowledge to reach out to Caregivers to ensure those living with dementia are able to live well, fulfilled and happy lives.”

"Good Afternoon,

At this time of Thanksgiving celebration, my thoughts gratefully turn to all of you with warm wishes.

I want to thank you for all your help, guidance and support over this past year.  Taking back to back courses was extremely challenging for me but without the guidance, support and patience from the PAC team, I would not have been successful in passing the courses I took this year.

Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays to ponder back over the year at all the great memories and good people who came into my life.  The PAC team have made such a positive impact on my life both professionally and personally.   I can’t express my gratitude enough for the opportunity to take both the Consultant and Train the Trainer Courses.

May you all have a wonderful time this Thanksgiving with family and friends and may you receive all the bountiful blessing this season has to offer."

Warm Regards,

Joan Di Paola, RN .
