This conference will enable health care professionals integrate what is known about brain function and the changes that happen with dementia with person-centered therapeutic approaches to foster positive outcomes. Content will focus on normal aging changes, forgetfulness and depression versus Alzheimer’s and related dementias; lost and preserved skills in all areas of brain function from initial symptoms of dementia to end of life; the value of connecting to an individual using multi-model, ability-sensitive supportive and validating communication techniques; the latest on dementia screening and assessment; and how to enhance mobility and reduce fall risks.
